La zorgojn mi forgesis.	bei einem Fass voll Reben	Against a butt I rest, Sir,
La vinon engorĝigis mi,	bin frohen Muts und lasse mir	My heart of ev'ry care I clear,
Sed la soif' ne ĉesis.	vom allerbesten geben.	And swear I'll have the best, Sir.

Do jam denove logas min	Der Küfer zieht den Heber vor	The cellar man taps any cask,
La glas' kun rea pleno.	gehorsam meinem Winke	I choose by nod or winking;
Dum plu mi trinkas ankaŭ ĝin,	reicht mir das Glas, ich halt´s empor	He fills the glass, he loves his task
Revenas la ĉagreno.	und trinke, trinke, trinke.	As I love drinking, drinking!

................................	Mich plagt der Dämon, Durst genannt	The demon thirst I could withstand,
................................	doch um ihn zu verscheuchen,	Nay, if I could, would kill it;
................................	nehm' ich mein Römerglas zur Hand	I therefor take my glass in hand
................................	und lass mir Rheinwein reichen.	And with good liquor fill it.

................................	Die ganze Welt erscheint mir nun	The world then wears a hue so gay,
................................	in rosenroter Schminke,	It nearly sets me blinking;
................................	ich könnte niemand Leides tun	All evil thoughts I scare away,
................................	und trinke, trinke, trinke.	While drinking, drinking, drinking!

Se ĉiam rekonstatas mi	Allein mein Durst vermehrt sich nur	Bu oh, at ev`ry glass I drain,
Ĉe ĉiu plua guto,	bei jedem vollen Becher,	That ragging thirst increases,
Ke ĉiam plu kaj ĉiam pli	das ist die leidige Natur	To drown it, tiplers strive in vain,
Bongustas ĉiu guto,	der echten Rheinweinzecher;	It never, never ceases.

Min premas, kara amikar',	Doch tröst ich mich, wenn ich zuletzt	Yet where's the odds if down I fall?
Dolore la konscio,	vom Faß zu Boden sinke,	E'en now I feel a sinking;
Ke devas mi rezigni, ĉar	Ich habe keine Pflicht verletzt,	I do not harm, wish well to all,
Ne decas la ebrio.	ich trinke, trinke, trinke.	While drinking, drinking, drinking!
