Sprung from a tender root,	el rozarbust' de Di'.	aus einer Wurzel zart,
Of ancient seers' foreshowing,	Aŭguro de profeto	wie uns die Alten sungen,
Of Jesse promised fruit;	rakontis jam pri ĝi.	von Jesse kam die Art
Its fairest bud unfolds to light	Naskiĝis rozfloret'	und hat ein Blümlein bracht
Amid the cold, cold winter,	meze en vintra nokto	mitten im kalten Winter,
And in the dark midnight.	laŭ diro de profet'.	wohl zu der halben Nacht.

2. The Rose which I am singing,	2. Ja naskis tiu rozo -	2. Das Röslein, das ich meine,
