That I am so sorrowful?	pro kio tia trist'?	malgaj' en la koro naskiĝis;
A fable of old Times so terrifies,	Fabel' el antikva foro	el tempo jam enterigita
Leaves my heart so thoughtful.	ne lasas de mi kun persist'.	legendo al mi reviviĝis.

The air is cool and it darkens,	Aere fridetas, trankvilas,	Jam malvarmetiĝas l' aero,
And calmly flows the Rhine;	malhelas jam la Rejn'.	la Rejno mallaŭte babilas,
The summit of the mountain hearkens	La monto surpinte brilas	per oro de l'sun' en vespero
