De l' sendormulo suno, fora stel',		Schlafloser Augen Sonne! Trüber Stern,
Vi tremas larme en la nokt-malhel'.		Dein tränenvoller Strahl erzittert fern, -
Simbolo estas vi de l' nokta hor',		Du offenbarst die Nacht, die dir nicht weicht:
Egalas tute de l' feliĉ' memor'.		O wie dir ganz des Glücks Erinn'rung gleicht!
Ĉar tute same brilas lumo de		So glänzt auch längst vergangner Tage Licht,
Pasintaj tagoj, sed varmigas ne.		Es scheint, doch wärmt sein schwaches Leuchten nicht.
Ĝin klare enaere vidas mi,		Der wache Gram sieht eine Luftgestalt,
Sed fride el la foro lumas ĝi.¹⁾²⁾		Scharf, aber fern! - klar, aber ach - wie kalt!
