Es steht eine Blume,		A flower is standing
Wo der Wind weht den Staub,		By the side of the way.
Blau ist ihre Blüte,		Light blue is her blossom,
Aber grau ist ihr Laub.		Her leaves they are grey.

Ich stand an dem Wege,		I came down that road once,
Hielt auf meine Hand,		Reached my hand out to stay.
Du hast deine Augen		I looked in your eyes then,
Von mir abgewandt.		But you turned them away.

Jetzt stehst du am Wege,		You stand by the road now
Da wehet der Wind,		Where the desert winds gust.
Deine Augen, die blauen,		Your beautiful blue eyes
Vom Staub sind sie blind.		Are blinded by dust.

Da stehst du und wartest,		You're waiting that I will
Daß ich komme daher,		Come along as before.
Wegewarte, Wegewarte,		Wayside Flower, Wayside Flower,
Du blühst ja nicht mehr.		You don't bloom anymore.
