Atendu tie je l’ servist’		Dort schleich dich in den Stall, und wart
De l’ stal’! Demandu lin,		Bis dich der Stallbub schaut.
Ĉu la filino de la reĝ’		Den forsch mir aus: Sprich, welche ist
Jam estas fianĉin’.		Von Dunkans Töchtern Braut?

Se diros la stalbubo: „Ne!“,		Und spricht der Bub: „Die Braune ist’s“,
Returnu tuj al mi.		So bring mir schnell die Mär.
Sed se la bubo diros: „Jes!“,		Doch sprich der Bub: „Die Blonde ist’s“,
Ne devas hasti vi.		So eilt das nicht so sehr.
