Ne scias mi, kio okazis	Ne scias mi, kial mi estas	I do not know what it signifies.
al mia tristema kor':	Malgaja en la kor’.	That I am so sorrowful?
Antikva legendo min kaptis,	Antikva fabelo restas	A fable of old Times so terrifies,
ne cedas el mia memor'.	Por ĉiam en mia memor’.	Leaves my heart so thoughtful.

La Rejno fluadas trankvile	Vespero jam ekmalheliĝas,	The air is cool and it darkens,
murmuras kiel mister',	Fluadas la Rejn’ en trankvil’,	And calmly flows the Rhine;
la supron ŝtonegan orumas	La supro de l’ monto lumiĝas	The summit of the mountain hearkens

atentas nur ŝin kun fervor'.	Al monto rigardas li nur.	He only regards dreaded height.

Mi kredas: la ondoj englutas ³⁾	Mi kredas, ke dronos finfine	I believe the turbulent waves
ŝipiston, ŝipeton je l' fin',	Ŝipisto kun sia boat’,	Swallow the last shipper and boat;
kaj kulpa pri tio nur estas	Kaj tion kaŭzis feine	She with her singing craves

1) En la sube menciita kajero, el kiu mi, Manfred Retzlaff, kopiis tiun ĉi esperantigon, la linio tekstas: "kaj sia oraĵo radias", kun "sia" anstataŭ "ŝia"'. Tio ŝajne estas aŭ pres-eraro aŭ gramatika eraro de la tradukinto.
2) En la origina versio troviĝas tie ĉi la vorto "liedon", kio estas aŭ pres-eraro aŭ neologismo inventita de la tradukinto Paul Christaller.
3) Mi, Manfred Retzlaff, enmetis la duoblan punkton post la vorto "kredas". Ĝi mankas en la origina traduko de Paul Christaller.
