jam venis la vespera hor'.	dum brilis super ni la Sun'.	The darkness falls at Thy behest;
Kunvenis ni por adorago	Protektu nin per mano Via	To Thee our morning hymns ascended,
plaĉanta al la Di-Sinjor'	dumnokte, Dio, ankaŭ nun!	Thy praise shall sanctify our rest.

2. Ni dankas Vin, Savanto nia,	2. La ter' cirkulas ĝis la veno	2. We thank Thee that Thy church, unsleeping,
ke sur la tuta mond-teren'	de l' nova tag', ripozas ni	While earth rolls onward into light,
la sankta eklezio Via	dum tiu nokt' en Via beno¹⁾	Through all the world her watch is keeping,
staradas firme ĉe posten'.	ĝis la mateno, kara Di'.	And rests not now by day or night.

3. Ruliĝas tero, brilas lumo	3. Nun kiam en malhel' fordronas	3. As o’er each continent and island

5. Formortos mondaj imperioj,	5. Ja estas, Dio ĉiopova,	5. So be it, Lord; Thy throne shall never,

Al Vi sin cedos dinastioj,	konduku al la tago nova	Thy kingdom stands, and grows forever,
Venkinto estos vi, Jesu'!	en Via regno je la fin'!	Till all Thy creatures own Thy sway.
