Das durch die Finsternis der Nächte bricht,		Vi tremas larme en la nokt-malhel'.
Und das erhellte Dunkel besser zeigt,		Simbolo estas vi de l' nokta hor',
Wie die Erinnerung der Freude gleicht!		Egalas tute de l' feliĉ' memor'.
So scheint auch der vergangnen Tage Lust,		Ĉar tute same brilas lumo de
Sie scheint, allein erwärmet nicht die Brust.		Pasintaj tagoj, sed varmigas ne.
Dem wachen Kammer strahlt sie wie ein Stern,		Ĝin klare enaere vidas mi,
Klar - aber kalt; hell - aber ach! so fern.		Sed fride el la foro lumas ĝi.¹⁾²⁾
