Ĉe plena glaso tie ĉi		Down deep within the cellar, here
La zorgojn mi forgesis.		Against a butt I rest, Sir,
La vinon engorĝigis mi,		My heart of ev'ry care I clear,
Sed la soif' ne ĉesis.		And swear I'll have the best, Sir.

Do jam denove logas min		The cellar man taps any cask,
La glas' kun rea pleno.		I choose by nod or winking;
Dum plu mi trinkas ankaŭ ĝin,		He fills the glass, he loves his task
Revenas la ĉagreno.		As I love drinking, drinking!

................................		The demon thirst I could withstand,
................................		Nay, if I could, would kill it;
................................		I therefor take my glass in hand
................................		And with good liquor fill it.

................................		The world then wears a hue so gay,
................................		It nearly sets me blinking;
................................		All evil thoughts I scare away,
................................		While drinking, drinking, drinking!

Se ĉiam rekonstatas mi		Bu oh, at ev`ry glass I drain,
Ĉe ĉiu plua guto,		That ragging thirst increases,
Ke ĉiam plu kaj ĉiam pli		To drown it, tiplers strive in vain,
Bongustas ĉiu guto,		It never, never ceases.

Min premas, kara amikar',		Yet where's the odds if down I fall?
Dolore la konscio,		E'en now I feel a sinking;
Ke devas mi rezigni, ĉar		I do not harm, wish well to all,
Ne decas la ebrio.		While drinking, drinking, drinking!
