Prauloj jam kantadis:	Aŭguro de profeto	Of ancient seers' foreshowing,
de Jiŝaj ĝia spec'.	rakontis jam pri ĝi.	Of Jesse promised fruit;
Floreton portis ĝi,	Naskiĝis rozfloret'	Its fairest bud unfolds to light
en akra vintro estis,	meze en vintra nokto	Amid the cold, cold winter,
Je horo de noktmez'.	laŭ diro de profet'.	And in the dark midnight.

Jesaja de profet':	Jesaj' prognozis ĝin -	Whereof Isaiah said,
Maria netuŝita,	el sia korpo sproson	Is from its sweet root springing
de kiu la floret'.	Mari' la virgulin'.	In Mary, purest Maid;
Eterne volis Di':	Laŭ dipotenca vol'	Through God's great love and might
naskinta infaneton	ŝi naskis Di-infanon	The Blessed Babe she bare us
Plej pura restis ŝi.	por tuta mond' konsol'.	In a cold, cold winter's night.
