Min kaptas malgaj' en la koro,	Ne scias mi, kial subita	I do not know what it signifies.

Fabel' el antikva foro	el tempo jam enterigita	A fable of old Times so terrifies,
ne lasas de mi kun persist'.	legendo al mi reviviĝis.	Leaves my heart so thoughtful.

Aere fridetas, trankvilas,	Jam malvarmetiĝas l' aero,	The air is cool and it darkens,
malhelas jam la Rejn'.	la Rejno mallaŭte babilas,	And calmly flows the Rhine;
La monto surpinte brilas	per oro de l'sun' en vespero	The summit of the mountain hearkens
vespere en rava scen'.	la supro de l' monto rebrilas.	In evening sunshine line.

Tre ĉarma feino sidas,	Plej belan knabinon mi vidas:	The most beautiful Maiden entrances
jen supre por ador';	en ora ornamo brilante,	Above wonderfully there,
la ora ornamo ridas;	sur supro de l' monto ŝi sidas,	Her beautiful golden attire glances,
ŝi kombas harojn el or'.	la harojn mistere kombante.	She combs her golden hair.

kaj kantas kun pasi';	kaj kantas tra l' pura aero,	And thereby a song sings,

kaj tio de l' kant' eliras	ĝin Lorelej' faris kruela,	She with her singing craves
