OLD age is courteous--no one more:		Das Alter ist ein höflicher Mann:
For time after time he knocks at the door,		Einmal übers andre klopft er an,
But nobody says, "Walk in, sir, pray!"		aber nun sagt niemand: Herein!
Yet turns he not from the door away,		Und vor der Türe will er nicht sein.
But lifts the latch, and enters with speed.		Da klinkt er auf, tritt ein so schnell,
And then they cry "A cool one, indeed!"		und nun heißt's, er sei ein grober Gesell.
