„Der Werwolf“ – sprach der gute Mann,	De “lupfantomo”, simpla rekta,	“Well, ‘Werewolf’ is your plural past,	“The banSHEE, in the subject’s place;
„des Werwolfs, Genitiv sodann,	tra “lupfintomo”, plej perfekta,	While ‘Waswolf’ is singularly cast:	the banHERS, the possessive case.
dem Werwolf, Dativ, wie man’s nennt,	plu “lupfontomo”, iom rara,	There’s ‘Amwolf’ too, the present tense,	The banHER, next, is what they call
den Werwolf, - damit hat’s ein End!“	ĝis “lupfuntomo”, ho, koŝmara.	And ‘Iswolf,’ ‘Arewolf’ in this same sense.”	objective case--and that is all.”

Dem Werwolf schmeichelten die Fälle	Ĉi participoj plaĉis multe	“I know that--I’m no mental cripple--	The banshee marveled at the cases

Zwar Wölfe gab’s in großer Schar,	ĉar netransiraj bestoj feblas	Such words are wounds beyond all suture--	“While bans are frequent”, he advised,

er hatte ja doch Weib und Kind!	ja spertas pli ol eĉ vampiro.	At home, and homewards now he crept,	wailed: “What about my family?”
Doch da er keine Gelehrter eben,	La lup’ revenis larmokula	Happy, humble, without apology	Then, being not a learned creature,
so schied er dankend und ergeben.	al sia famili’ ulula.	For such folly of philology.	said humbly “Thanks” and left the teacher.
