Thomas Moore,
Letzte Rose

Thomas Moore,
’T is the Last Rose of Summer

tradukita de Friedrich Wilhelm Riese

    kun ok-liniaj strofoj

Letzte Rose, wie magst du   ’T is the last rose of summer
so einsam hier blühn?   Left blooming alone;
Deine freundlichen Schwestern   All her lovely companions
sind längst, schon längst dahin   Are faded and gone;
Keine Blüte haucht Balsam   No flower of her kindred,
mit labendem, labendem Duft   No rosebud is nigh,
keine Blätter mehr flattern   To reflect back her blushes,
in stürmischer Luft.   To give sigh for sigh.

Warum blühst du so traurig   I'll not leave thee, thou lone one!
im Garten allein?   To pine on the stem;
Sollst im Tod mit den Schwestern   Since the lovely are sleeping,
mit den Schwestern vereinigt sein   Go sleep thou with them.
Drum pflück ich, o Rose   Thus kindly I scatter
vom Stamme, vom Stamme dich ab   Thy leaves o'er the bed,
Sollst ruhen mir am Herzen   Where thy mates of the garden
und mit mir, ja mit mir im Grab.   Lie scentless and dead.

Traduko de la Angla poemo "’T is the
Last Rose of Summer " de Thomas Moore
(*1779-05-28 - †1852-02-25) en la
Germanan de Friedrich Wilhelm Riese.

Text: Friedrich Wilhelm Riese - 1830 -
(1847 in der Oper " Martha " von Flotow
) - vermutlich von einem Gedicht des
irischen Lyrikers Thomas Moore angeregt:
„Des Sommers letzte Rose blüht hier
noch, einsam rot...“
Musik: nach dem irischen Volkslied: Groves
of Blarney ?
Siehe: http://www.volksliederarchiv.de/text3289.html.
auf die gleiche Melodie wird gesungen
  So soon may I follow
    When friendships decay,
    And from Love's shining circle
    The gems drop away.
    When true hearts lie wither'd
    And fond ones are flown,
    Oh! who would inhabit
    his bleak world alone?
