Auf Kieseln im Bache da lieg’ ich, wie helle!		En akvo sur ŝtonoj mi estas kuŝanta,
Verbreite die Arme der kommenden Welle,		Etendas la brakojn al l’ ondo venanta,
Und buhlerisch drückt sie die sehnende Brust.		Amume ĝi prenas la bruston de mi.
Dann führt sie der Leichsinn im Strome darnieder,		Facile forfluas la ondo unua,
Es naht sich die zweite, sie streichelt mich wieder,		Alvenas, karesas min same la dua,
So fühl’ ich die Freuden der wechselnden Lust.		Kaj ĝojon sentigas al mi tio ĉi.

Und doch, und so traurig, verschleifst du vergebens		Malĝoje kaj vane vi estas ŝlifanta
Die köstlichen Stunden des eilenden Lebens,		La horojn valorajn de l’ vivo fluanta,
Weil dich das geliebteste Mädchen vergißt.		Ĉar vin amatega forlasis knabin’.
O ruf sie zurücke, die vorigen Zeiten!		Kiŝiĝas tre dolĉe la lipo de l’ dua,
Es küßt sich so süße die Lippe der Zweiten,		Sed tute ne kiel la lip’ de l’ unua;
Als kaum sich die Lippe der Ersten geküßt.		Ne turnos la tempoj antaŭaj ja sin!¹⁾
